I’ve managed to submit some artwork to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.  There are two stages.  I will find out if either artworks will be accepted for the second stage on 18th March.

There is a theme, ‘Interconnectedness’.   I read and reread their statement to determine if I understood and I realised there was a connection to a subject I had painted numerous times.  Here below is the statement and my own thoughts (italics) in response, followed by the two artworks I decided to submit.

Interconnectedness
It will aim to explore ideas of entanglement…. – not only literally but politically as well

….as well as the unexpected and fortuitous connections and associations between disparate things – since fox hunting has been banned and trail hunting introduced membership has increased, literally disparate has been enabled; the countryside and lack of understanding of the countryside, nature and struggles of farming within these do not compare to the strains government are putting farming businesses under

No matter how abstract or illogical – illogical is a key word in this struggle

Proof that, as humans, our outputs hold more commonality than separation, without us intentionally seeking it – bringing more people together in the fight to keep enjoyment of tradition alive, but also to enjoy nature and its struggle too to survive
